Federation and International Structure
Soroptimist terminology varies slightly in Europe, so let's just concentrate on SISD, and look at the organizational structure from our SISD Club upwards.
CLUBS, REGIONS and DISTRICTS
SISD is a Club. It is in a Region of the United States called the Desert Coast Region (DCR). Geographically The Desert Coast Region includes clubs located in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles and Imperial Counties in California, and in Yuma, Arizona.
The Desert Coast Region has 3 Districts, and SISD is in District III. On the above graphic the Districts are color-coded, and identified with Roman numerals. DISTRICT III is at the bottom, in yellow, with San Diego circled in red. The smaller names on this graphic identify the clubs in the Desert Coast Region for all three Districts.
FEDERATIONS
The next rung upwards on the ladder is the Federation, and four Federations geographically cover all clubs worldwide.
SISD is in the Soroptimist of the Americas Federation (SIA), that is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. SIA covers the geographical areas of North and South America, Central and South America, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan and Puerto Rico.
